Menno and Marie Galle Scholarship

The Menno and Marie Galle Scholarship was founded in 2005 to support students a Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) as they prepare for ministry and leadership in the church.

In keeping with the intent of the fund, priority consideration may be given to applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Any student demonstrating financial need

All qualified students are eligible to apply and will be considered. When applicants do not meet the preferred criteria, the scholarship may be awarded to other students who demonstrate financial need and alignment with the purposes of the fund.

As of June 30, 2025, the scholarship's market value was $26,291. The earnings are paid out annually to cover approximately 9% of tuition.

More about Menno and Marie

On January 1, 1914, Menno Galle married Marie Friesen of Hague, Saskatchewan. They lived on campus of the school where he taught until June 1919. Some of his pastorates included: two Mennonite churches near Lind and Ruff, Washington, from July 1919 to July 1922; two Mennonite churches near Ritzville and Ruff, Washington, from 1929 to 1937 while simultaneously accepting the pastorate of the English Congregational Church in Odessa from January 1931 to December 1947. He also served in pastorates in Idaho and California. Menno was a professor at Bethel College, Kansas, and Secretary of the General Conference Mennonite Publication Board for 15 years. His reply to the challenge to serve in various places has always been Joshua 24:24: “The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will I obey”.
