Keith E. Gingrich Memorial Scholarship
The Keith E. Gingrich Memorial Scholarship was founded in 2012 to make theological education at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) more affordable. The scholarship provides funds to students who are:
- enrolled in the Peace Studies program
- sensing a call to overseas mission or international students
As of June 30, 2024, the scholarship's market value was $112,192. The earnings are paid out annually to cover approximately 37% of tuition.

More about Keith
Keith Gingrich, 1941-1998, was born in Northern Illinois where he had leadership roles with the Mennonite Youth Fellowship (MYF) at the conference level and was a summer program director at Camp Menno Haven. Throughout his life he was a strong advocate for the Anabaptist peace position. As a conscientious objector he volunteered for alternative service as a teacher in Nigeria through Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). His call to service subsequently led him to India and the Sudan, interspersed with completing the Master of Arts Peace Studies (MAPS) degree at AMBS. Upon returning to the United States, he spent 9 years working in the MCC Peace Section Washington office before relocating to the Midwest with his family. There he gave leadership to the Mission and Service Ministry team at Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen and served on the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference Justice, Peace and Service Commission.
Wherever he lived he had a natural way of connecting with others and engaging them in discussions about peace and peacemaking in their particular context. He had a passion for “welcoming the stranger,” including international students, and for passing on the teachings and vision of the church to young people.
