Receiving this scholarship really cemented my calling to attend seminary. It was a massive affirmation of the gifts others saw in me, gifts I sometimes struggled to believe were really there. Due to this scholarship I was able to turn all my energy towards being fully present at seminary—not just to studying but to opening myself to the transformational experience of seminary in head, heart, and body. I am so grateful for this scholarship. Alison Brookins, MDiv, 2017, Chicago, Illinois

When I sensed a call to further ministry, I knew I needed more training. I was unsure I was ready for Seminary and doubted my academic ability. Receiving this scholarship gave me the affirmation and the financial support that I needed to be able to make an international move and the leap of faith into seminary. My time at AMBS was challenging and rich. I love the mentors that professors became and the lifelong friendships I formed with others who now walk beside me in ministry. Getting this scholarship was the "you can do it!" cheer that I needed. Moriah Hurst, MDiv, 2008, Rockingham, Virginia

The scholarship gave me the freedom to invest my whole life in the AMBS community, which in turn yielded the best education both in and out of the classroom that I could have asked for. The opportunity to pour myself into classes and community life also provided incredible opportunities to grow in intercultural competence, as I built friendships with fellow students from all inhabited continents. The relationships I formed at AMBS are invaluable to me as a new pastor. Michelle Curtis, MDiv, 2018, Ambler, Pennsylvania

After teaching elementary school for a number of years and then staying home with my young children, I began to feel a call toward seminary. This scholarship has made it possible for me to study at AMBS where I am learning from and alongside amazing professors and classmates. What a gift! Stephanie Wieand, current student, Goshen, Indiana

The generosity of this scholarship played an enormous role in opening the door to seminary for me. The prospect of quitting my job to enter a full-time program for three years with no certain vocational prospects on the other side was nothing short of daunting. This scholarship allowed me to follow my call to seminary with confidence and without worry about the expenses. I will always be grateful for the grace bestowed on me through this scholarship. Mara Weaver, MDiv, 2020, Iowa City, Iowa

I was a member of Anabaptist Family Group, a local, multicultural church group which was planted almost three years ago. I relocated to Goshen along with my three children. To be a recipient of this scholarship was very significant in my life, especially being a minority. I was born and raised in Honduras, Central America in which not only we have to face severe poverty, but also injustice due to my culture and origin. My lifelong desire to attend seminary finally became a reality and your help made it possible. I sincerely thank you for supporting my education. Gisselle Guity, CTS, 2024, Greenacres, Florida

This scholarship has been an enormous blessing to me. As a recent college graduate, I’m starting seminary with substantial student debt. Before my senior year of undergrad, I knew I wanted to go to seminary after I finished my psychology degree. However, I didn’t know if starting seminary right away would be a financially viable option. Thanks to the support of this scholarship, I have the opportunity to pursue this calling to pastoral ministry now, without sinking further into debt. Anna Ressler, MDiv, 2023, Hagerstown, Maryland

When I first sensed a pull toward seminary, I thought I must be crazy, but after years of wrestling with the idea, I finally began my studies at AMBS. Receiving a scholarship was a large part of what made it possible for me to take that step. During my time here, I have worked to integrate art and creative expression with theology and spirituality in ways that nourish my own and others' relationships with God and community. I am deeply grateful to be here doing this work. Kajsa Herrstrom, MDiv, 2022, Elkhart, Indiana
