As an international student, studying at AMBS was only possible with financial assistance. After completing my studies, the Lord opened opportunities for me to serve in various leadership positions and teach in different schools. I have served as the principal at Sonlighy School of Ministry and as an academic dean at Kenya Baptist Theological College. I am currently serving as the principal at Kenya Baptist Theological College.  I have been able to give back what I received at AMBS through serving the church in Kenya, where, in most instances, I have done that with little or no financial gains. - Joseph Kamau Kabui, MDiv, 2009, Limuru, Kenya

My name is Betelehem Roba. I am originally from Ethiopia. As international student my main
concern was finding financial support to join AMBS. However, the generosity of this scholarship
changed my academic experience in a variety of ways. I could concentrate on my studies and
ministry without worrying about my life expense and educational tuition. This would have been
impossible without the assistance of this scholarship. Thank you so much for sponsoring my
studies! It means a lot to me. Your generous gift has helped me complete my study in Theology
and Global Anabaptism at AMBS. May God bless you!

I am Sungbin Bartimaeus Kim. I studied at AMBS in 2015-2018. Even though I had some challenges at AMBS, personally it was one of the most meaningful gifts from the LORD, through the donors, Virgil and Louise Claassen. They not only offered the scholarship, but also helped my family personally in so many ways, like just angels. I and my family will never forget their love in Christ. - Sungbin Bartimaeus Kim, MDiv, 2019, Wilmore, Kentucky

I am very grateful for the scholarship I received during my studies at the Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS). It allowed my family and me to live comfortably while I pursued my education. Worrying about how to pay tuition can be incredibly stressful, but thanks to the Virgil & Louise Claassen scholarship, I was able to focus on my studies with peace of mind. Today, I am ordained and serve as the Women's Director for the Christian Council of Tanzania. - Esther Muhagachi, MDiv, 2023, Dodoma, Tanzania

Joining AMBS to study Christian formation (MA) was a great opportunity. Exposing myself to modern and postmodern theology challenged my inner self. Prior to this, I completed my undergraduate studies at a conservative theological institution in Ethiopia. Spending three years in seminary presented many challenges, including a cultural shock during the first transitional year. Transitioning from a conservative culture to the postmodern world was difficult, and the theological differences between traditional and feminist theology also confronted my formation. Ultimately, the challenges I faced turned into blessings. The scholarship I applied for and received helped me to focus on my classes, assignments, readings, and papers. - Beka Biratu, MACF, 2022, Alexandria, Virginia (originally from Ethiopia)
