It is hard to describe how being a recipient of this scholarship blessed me. It came at a time when I was struggling to discern if I should continue working on a degree at AMBS and it was such an encouragement to me to keep on going. I have worked as a interim pastor and as a Hospice Chaplain and can't say enough how my education at AMBS influenced how I cared for patients in the Hospice setting and pastored two congregations during their transitions. I will continue to use it as I move into a chaplain position in a hospital. This scholarship served to help me through seminary and I am grateful to be given the opportunity to share God's love through my ministry. – Linda Short, MDiv, 2014, Goshen, Indiana
I will forever be grateful for Wayne and Loveda's generosity, allowing me to be able to afford attending seminary without having to go into incredible debt. Their scholarship enabled me to engage fully into ministry without the anxiety of financial problems that so many seminarians have to deal with. It takes the generosity of others to continue to make seminary affordable. Thank you again Loveda! – Jessica Schrock-Ringenberg, MDiv, 2012, Excelsior Springs, Missouri
Receiving this scholarship allowed my education at AMBS to take place. After graduating from Goshen College I spent two years working in a few different jobs, but felt a call back to biblical studies and theological education. Though my path did not lead me to pastoral ministry, my time at AMBS has helped me act as an educated layperson in the church, serving on committees and teaching Bible study. This scholarship helped me to follow God’s call for my life. – Brian O’Leary, MDiv, 2019, Goshen, Indiana
Reflections upon the Wayne and Loveda Liechty Scholarship leave heartfelt words of encouragement and gratefulness that supported me to earn a Master of Arts in Christian Formation at AMBS. Thank you for partnering and journeying during the pursuit of my God-called missional purpose of ministering the Gospel of Reconciliation. – Sister Ruby N Fair-Miller, MACF, 2018, South Bend, Indiana
As a recipient of the Wayne & Loveda Scholarship I am humbled and blessed. The scholarship serves as a way to encourage students to pursue ministry. Wayne and Loveda’s lives and stories reminds me of how amazing of an opportunity attending seminary is. It also reminds me of why I came to Seminary, to help serve a community of believers and help them to claim their own personal calling from God. I appreciate not only the access that the scholarship grants to students like myself but the community support and interconnectedness of being a follower of Jesus. Or in other words members of the body supporting each other to help us live into God’s Kingdom here and now. – Hank Unruh, MDiv, 2021, Orrville, Ohio
