In the world of peacebuilding it is often said that "peace is underfunded, while war is good business." The Keith David Benner Scholarship is a humble yet vital attempt at changing this sad truism. During my studies at AMBS I got to learn and hone my practical skills in nonviolent conflict transformation rooted in God's shalom. These lessons have deeply shaped my ministry as a pastor and peacebuilder in my community in Frankfurt, Germany. It was a profound relief to be able to do this knowing I would not go into debt, thanks to the generous support of many, including the Keith David Benner Scholarship. Receiving the Keith David Benner Scholarship was a pivotal moment for me in my educational journey. Not only did it alleviate financial burdens, but it also provided a sense of affirmation and encouragement in my pursuit of theological studies. Once I finished my undergraduate studies, I knew I wanted to continue exploring the connection between peace studies and theological reflection. Knowing that individuals were invested in my education and future ministry deeply motivated me to excel academically and strive for excellence in all aspects of my studies. Moreover, beyond the financial assistance, the Scholarship fostered a sense of community and connection within the AMBS family. Being part of a community that values supporting students in their theological formation enriched my experience and allowed me to engage more fully in the learning process. As I reflect on my time at AMBS, I am profoundly grateful for the opportunities it provided and the doors it opened for me. It not only empowered me to pursue my passion for bringing together theological reflection and peacebuilding efforts but also equipped me with the resources and support needed to make a difference in my future ministry and life. - Bekah York, MAPS, 2018, Mexico City, Mexico
