During my time in seminary I uncovered a love for learning biblical languages and I grew in my understanding of ethics, theology and Anabaptist history. I gained a deeper understanding of myself and my faith. I found new ways to pursue healing, peace and justice. I discovered a call to pastoral ministry that has continued to be affirmed and supported as I serve at Grand Rapids Mennonite Fellowship. My time as a student has equipped me with new tools, resources, leadership abilities, and knowledge that will continue to serve me and the church in the years to come. None of this would have been possible without the financial aid and scholarships I received, including the Ernest & Priscilla Bachman Scholarship. For many years, completing my Master of Divinity degree did not seem like it would be possible, but thanks to this generous support, it became a reality. - Alaina Dobkowski, MDiv, 2024, Grand Rapids, Michigan
I am deeply grateful that AMBS provided multiple opportunities for me to write letters of thanks to the family of Ernest & Prisca Bachman. Their scholarship helped enable me to finish my degree from a distance after I got married and moved away from Indiana in the middle of my program to take on my first pastoral role. - Kevin Chupp, MDiv, 2020, Normal, Illinois
