Norman S. Gingrich Scholarship

The Norman S. Gingrich Scholarship was founded in 1977 to support students a Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) as they prepare for ministry and leadership in the church. The scholarship provides funds to any seminary student with a demonstrated financial need.

All qualified students are eligible to apply and will be considered. When applicants do not meet the preferred criteria, the scholarship may be awarded to other students who demonstrate financial need and alignment with the purposes of the fund.

As of June 30, 2025, the scholarship's market value was $115,151. The earnings are paid out annually to cover approximately 38% of tuition.

More about Norman

Norman S. Gingrich, a native of Ontario, Can., was one of 10 children. In 1901, he married Esther Gehman. They moved to northern Indiana in their later years. He had an early interest in Mennonite education and was a part-time teacher of business at the Elkhart Institute. This fund began in 1947; and for the first 30 years it was awarded to Gingrich relatives. Since 1977, the scholarship has been available to students at AMBS who demonstrate financial need.
