Wayne J and Loveda M Liechty Scholarship

The Wayne J and Loveda M Liechty Scholarship was founded in 2001 to support students a Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) as they prepare for ministry and leadership in the church.

In keeping with the intent of the fund, priority consideration may be given to applicants who meet one or more of the following criteria:

• are from Northwest Ohio, or
• hope to become a pastor or teacher

All qualified students are eligible to apply and will be considered. When applicants do not meet the preferred criteria, the scholarship may be awarded to other students who demonstrate financial need and alignment with the purposes of the fund.

As of June 30, 2025, the scholarship's market value was $71,756. The earnings are paid out annually to cover approximately 24% of tuition.

More about Wayne and Loveda

Wayne and Loveda Liechty spent most of their lives in Archbold, Ohio. They were both active in West Clinton Mennonite Church. Wayne was the owner of Liechty Farm Equipment for more than 60 years, and he also served as a volunteer chaplain with jail ministries. At one time in his life, Wayne wanted to be a minister, but he was never encouraged. Wayne died in November 2005. Loveda remained very active in her community and church. Wayne and Loveda established this fund to encourage others training for the ministry.
